Exhibition Road

What's changing

At the heart of the redesign of Exhibition Road is our desire to create a safe and attractive environment for everyone to enjoy.

Award-winning architectural practice Dixon Jones has developed the revolutionary design that reinforces the distinctive character of South Kensington.

Using the highest quality materials, the new design will transform the Exhibition Road area into a magnificent pedestrian-friendly realm – reflecting its status as London’s cultural heartland.

To improve access for all members of the community, changes will be made to the street design, traffic flows, parking arrangements, and South Kensington Station.

Changes will include:

  • Removing kerbs and barriers
  • Installing guidance devices for the blind
  • Enhancing lighting
  • Restricting traffic to 20mph
  • Returning the South Kensington one-way system to two-way traffic
  • Providing step-free access to South Kensington Station

Whether you’re a resident, visitor or member of the thriving business community, Exhibition Road will provide a memorable experience.
