Adult, Further and Higher Education

Leighton House Museum holds annual courses in life drawing and painting within the museum’s historic studio space. All courses are led by professional practising artists. Shorter study sessions in other media are also available. Study-days exploring various historic and contemporary themes are held on a regular basis with invited experts in relevant fields. The museum is an important resource for those studying Orientalism, the social position of artists in the nineteenth century and the history of interior design.

Schools

The museum delivers sessions in the following subject areas for primary and secondary schools:

  • Art and Design
  • Art of the Islamic World
  • Art of the East and West
  • The lives of artists in the UK in the nineteenth century

School visits can be self-guided or facilitated by museum staff. Storytelling and sessions with costumed characters can also be booked in advance. Further information for schools is available from Leighton and The Middle East section of our website.
