Ecological survey

The Ecology Service collates data on Sites of Nature Conservation Importance within the Borough. A full ecological habitat survey was undertaken in 1993. Each year we carry out a Borough breeding bird survey and we are currently carrying out surveys on trees in Holland Park.

Our recent site surveys have included:

  • butterflies and moths of Holland Park
  • invertebrates of Chelsea Creek

In the past we have carried out surveys on:

  • Borough bats in 1994
  • reptiles and amphibians in 1995/96
  • mammals in 1997
  • Borough foxes in 1998
  • flora of Holland Park in 1999

The surveys are usually available in the local studies section of the Central Library, Hornton Street.

A number of publications and teachers’ packs are available from The Ecology Service at Holland Park Ecology Centre.
