Violence at work

Introduction

The key issue is for employers and employees to prevent and tackle aggressive or violent behaviour at work. People who deal directly with the public may face aggressive or violent behaviour. Employers must assess the risk of verbal and physical violence to their employees.

Legislation

Employers have to ensure that they comply with the Health and safety at Work Act 1974, Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases, and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995.
