Health and Safety Regulations

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 makes "…provision for securing the health, safety and welfare of persons at work, for protecting others against risk to health and safety in connection with the activities of persons at work…"

If you run a food or hospitality business, office, shop, garage, or such like then the regulations apply to you.

Below are just a few of the laws which are enforced under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and which you as an employer or employee must comply with:

Management of Health and safety at Work Regulations 199

Health and safety (Consultation with Employees) Regulations 1996

Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981

Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences, Regulations 1995

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 1999 (COSHH)

Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992

Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations 1987

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 1994

Electricity at Work Regulations 1989

Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations 1992.

The list above is by no means comprehensive. It is your responsibility to find out what you will have to comply with. Visit HSE Free Leaflets
